Corozal Towns Central Park is always a busy place as it is located in the center of the town.  The actual name of the park is the Santiago Ricalde Park but no one uses that name.  It is surrounded by schools, churches, stores, a bank and government offices.

Many Corozaleņos use the park to sell used clothing and there are a few food vendors selling tacos, hot dogs, panades, ice cream, ect. and on the weekends there is usually somebody cooking up chicken barbeque.

Mothers park is located next to where the old Corozal Market used to stand.

Every Mothers Day the Corozal Town Board puts on a variety show for all moms.  This is done at the Mothers Park.  They also give prizes for the youngest mom, oldest mom, mom with the most kids and so on.  The whole town shows up for the occasion.

The Corozal Town Market is your place to shop for fresh produce, fruits and seafood.  The market also has a meat section which is worth visiting if you are considering becoming a vegetarian.  There are other places to buy meat instead of the market so do not worry.  At the fish section watch when the local fish cleaners throw the scraps into the water.  There are hundreds of hungry catfish waiting for a meal and the water boils as they fight for the scraps.  Kids love this.  Many vendors sell right out of the back of their pickups or on the sidewalk, but you can also go into the market where the vendors have little stalls.  A new market is presently being built about three blocks from this location.

Update: The new market was inaugurated on March 3rd, 2003, two days before elections but over a month later is not yet in use.

Update: The new Gabriel Hoare Market is now open.  It was named after a good friend of mine and one of Corozal Town's former Mayors.

Some Corozaleņos go wild at Christmas when it comes to decorating their homes.

We enjoy driving around during the Christmas season with our two sons and

checking out the elaborately decorated homes.
